SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syner-Cuse student marketing group, in conjunction with the SU athletics marketing department, is encouraging all Syracuse University students to come out to the Carrier Dome to help set an SU lacrosse student attendance record when the No. 1 Orange hosts No. 2 Virginia on Friday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. Admission to all home men's lacrosse games is free for SU and ESF students with a valid ID card.
The first 300 students in attendance Friday will receive a free STX Lacrosse t-shirt. Students should enter through Gate E of the Carrier Dome and sit in Sections 117 and 118, which have been designated as the student sections for men's lacrosse games.
“There is no doubt that when the Carrier Dome is filled it can be best home field advantage not only in basketball and football, but also in lacrosse,” Syner-Cuse's Jason Gorsky said. “We hope that the student attendance record set this Friday will serve as a benchmark for future groups of students to not only match, but attempt to surpass.”
Syner-Cuse is a partnership created by Syracuse Director of Athletics Dr. Daryl Gross and Michael Veley, the Director of the Sports Management Department in the College of Human Ecology. It was formed to help enhance the marketing of Syracuse's Olympic sports and provide students with hands on experience.
“It's a tremendous opportunity for our students to gain further insight into the dimensions of the industry, including communications, marketing , business and compliance, learning inside a premier Division I athletic program,” Veley said when the partnership was formed in 2006. “It epitomizes 'Scholarship in Action' and benefits both athletics and sports management tremendously.”
