
Rowan and Looney Earn BIG EAST Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Katie Rowan is the BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while senior Bridget Looney has been named to the Weekly Honor Roll for their performances in the Orange's win against Notre Dame. It is Rowan's third Player of the Week honor this season and seventh of her career, while Looney is making her first career appearance on the Honor Roll.
Rowan recorded a game-high six points on four goals and two assists in the Orange's 14-13 win against No. 8 Notre Dame. She had two goals and two assists in Syracuse's 10-0 scoring run in the first half, and netted the Orange's final goal of the half with four seconds remaining. After the Fighting Irish cut Syracuse's lead to two late in the second half, Rowan scored the Orange's final goal with 1:55 left on the clock in the one-goal victory. Rowan leads the BIG EAST in scoring this season, averaging 5.46 points per game.
Looney helped the Orange win 18-of-29 draws with seven, and caused three turnovers, increasing her team-leading total to 22 this season. In addition, she picked up three ground balls and scored a pair of goals as Syracuse posted its 10th win of the season.
Rowan and Looney are two of five seniors who will play their final regular-season home game on Wednesday when the ninth-ranked Orange hosts No. 20 Cornell at 7 p.m. Admission to the game is free of charge.
