
Rowan Sends USA to World Cup Final

PRAGUE, Czech Republic – Katie Rowan recorded a team-high eight points to lead Team USA to a 20-3 victory against England in the semifinals of the 2009 Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup on Thursday, June 25. The United States will take on Australia in the gold medal match on Saturday. Team USA came from behind to defeat Australia, 10-9, during pool play.
For the second straight game, Rowan gave Team USA an early lead with the first goal of the game. The United States raced out to a 9-0 lead to take control of the game. Rowan played a part in five of the nine goals, as she had two goals and three assists during the offensive outburst. Team USA led 15-2 at halftime and went on to its sixth victory in the 2009 World Cup. Rowan finished with three goals and five assists.
The United States will play Australia for the gold medal at 9 a.m. EST on Saturday. The two teams also met in the final game of the 2005 World Cup, which was won by Australia.
