SYRACUSE, NY -- Syracuse will host Albany and Robert Morris in the regional rounds of the 2K Sports Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. The Orange pair up with Albany on November 9 at 9:00 p.m. and then take on Robert Morris on November 11 at 7:00 p.m., in the Carrier Dome.
Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim, a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, enters the season just one victory shy of 800 in his career.
The Orange has won all previous six meetings with Albany. The most recent matchup was in the 2004-05 season when Syracuse emerged with a 72-55 victory. The Great Danes were 15-16 a season ago. Coach Will Brown is preparing for his ninth season at Albany.
Syracuse and Robert Morris squared off in the 2008 NIT. The Orange won that game, 87-81, and also claimed the other meeting between the schools, in 1994. Robert Morris was an NCAA Tournament team last year. The Colonials were 24-11 and captured the Northeast Conference regular season and tournament championships. Mike Rice is 40-19 in his two seasons at Robert Morris.
