SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Orange women's basketball team (12-1, 0-1) looks to rebound from its first loss of the season when it travels to South Orange, N.J. to face Seton Hall (8-6, 0-1) on Tuesday, January 5 at 7 p.m. inside Walsh Gymnasium. SU's 12-1 start matches its best start in school history, as the Orange went 13-1 in both 2007-08 and 1978-79. Syracuse is 3-0 on the road this season.

Last Time Out
Georgetown's Sugar Rodgers hit a runner with 20 seconds left in overtime to give the Hoyas an 83-81 victory against SU in the BIG EAST opener on Jan. 2 in the Carrier Dome. Senior forward Juanita Ward led the way for the Orange with a season-best 17 points and 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the year. Senior forward Nicole Michael recorded her 25th career double-double with 16 points and 11 boards, while freshman center Kayla Alexander also chipped in 17 points. GU made 27 of their 29 free-throws (93.1 pct.) Saturday, including 18-of-19 in the second half and overtime.
Ward Records Double-Double
Senior forward Juanita Ward paced the Orange with a season-high 17 points and 13 rebounds versus Georgetown, which was the first double-double of the year and fourth of her career. The senior shot 4-of-8 (.500) from the floor and 9-of-12 (.750) from the charity stripe. She registered four assists, a team-best three steals and one block in a season-high 31 minutes of action. Ward has reached double-figures in points four times and double-figures in rebounds twice this year.
Orange Against the Pirates
Seton Hall holds the 28-19 advantage in the all-time series, but SU holds the 5-4 edge in the last nine contests between the two rivals. In the last matchup, the Pirates defeated the Orange, 70-66, in the Carrier Dome on Jan. 13, 2009, while SU won the last game played in New Jersey, 81-72, on Feb. 13, 2008. Senior forward Nicole Michael has averaged 20.1 points and 6.3 rebounds in three games against SHU and junior guard Erica Morrow has averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 steals and 2.5 rebounds in two games.
Scouting Seton Hall
The Pirates are 8-6 overall and 0-1 against BIG EAST opponent this season. It last lost, 91-24, to first-ranked Connecticut on January 2. Ebonie Williams paced SHU with nine points, all on 3-pointers. The Huskies finished the game with a 44-26 edge on the glass and forced 28 Seton Hall turnovers. Uconn hit 56.7 percent from the field while holding the Hall to just 17.3 percent. Williams has made at least three 3-pointers in 10 of the Pirates 14 games this season, helping her to a season total of 40. She is averaging a team-best 14.8 points per game. Kandice Green leads the BIG EAST with seven double-doubles, while averaging a team-best 9.4 rebounds per game.
