SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse (20-3, 3-3) suffered its first home loss of the season, a 0-3 loss to Marquette (13-7, 4-2) on Saturday afternoon in the Women's Building as part of Orange Central weekend. Junior outside hitter Noemie Lefebvre led the offense with 10 kills, while senior defensive specialist Sarah Hayes recorded a team-high nine digs.

Senior middle blocker Hayley Todd tallied six kills, while Lindsay McCabe, Samantha Hinz and Mindy Stanislovaitis each had five kills. McCabe had a match-high .714 hitting percentage.

The Orange trailed the first set 15-25 with the Golden Eagles stealing the offense spotlight. Todd, Lefebvre and McCabe each picked up a pair of kills in the set while Hayes and sophomore setter Laura Homann led the defense with two digs apiece.

The second set started off as a close race with three tied scores, before Marquette broke away with the lead. The Orange fought back from 17-23 to 22-24, then fell to the Golden Eagles 22-25. The Orange and Golden Eagles battled for breathing room in the third set with the teams recording three tied scores. Marquette broke open a 7-6 lead to 13-7 and wrapped up the set 25-16.

Syracuse wraps up its non-conference schedule with a visit to Cornell on Tuesday, October 19 before a two-match BIG EAST road swing in the midwest beginning Friday, October 22.
