Sophomore Brandon Triche scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half, including eight during the Orange's scoring run to start the period. Syracuse built the advantage to 14 before Canisius came back to cut the lead to nine at 56-47 with 11:04 remaining. Triche responded with a 3-point basket, igniting Syracuse's offense, which outscored the Golden Griffins, 54-38, in the second half.

Junior Scoop Jardine recorded 13 points and eight assists, while Kris Joseph added 10 points and seven rebounds. Freshman #C.J. Fair# came off the bench and tallied a season-best 11 points.
SCOUTING DETROIT
Tuesday's game is the second contest for Detroit this season. The Titans opened their season with a 63-54 loss on the road to the University of New Mexico on Saturday, November 13. Junior Eli Holman led Detroit with his 11th double-double of his career (15 points, 13 rebounds) in the setback to the Lobos.
Last season, Detroit posted its first winning record in six years with an overall mark of 20-14. This year, the Titans were picked to finish second in the Horizon League in the preseason coaches' poll. Detroit returns four letterwinners and two starters from last year's team.
Juniors Chase Simon and Holman were both selected to the Preseason All-Horizon League Second Team. Simon is the team's leading returning scorer after averaging 14.0 points per game last season. Last year, Holman led the Horizon League in rebounding (8.9 per game), field goal percentage (.614), and blocked shots (2.5 per game).
Ray McCallum enters his third season at the helm of the Titans' program. He has an all-time record of 197-187 (.513). Prior to coming to Detroit, McCallum served as head coach at the University of Houston and at his alma mater, Ball State University.
THE SERIES
Syracuse and Detroit will meet for the fifth time overall and the first time in the Carrier Dome on Tuesday. The Orange holds a 3-1 advantage in the series. The Titans won the first contest between the two schools, 97-69, in the Motor City Tournament in Detroit in 1961-62.
The squads didn't meet again until the 1979-80 season when the Orange defeated Detroit, 89-83, in Manley Field House. The next season, Syracuse defeated the Titans, 93-79, on their home court. The last meeting was in the Rochester Classic played in Rochester, N.Y. in 1984-85. The Orange came away with a 77-63 victory.
