KUTZTOWN REWIND
Syracuse opened its preseason schedule with a 96-60 victory against Kutztown on Nov. 2. After leading by 15 at halftime, the Orange outscored Kutztown 49-28, in the second half as it cruised to the victory.
Five different players scored in double figures for the Orange, including junior Kris Joseph and freshman #C.J. Fair#, who led SU with 14 points each. Fair came off the bench and was 5-for-7 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Scoop Jardine added 11 points, while Rick Jackson and Mookie Jones finished with 10 points apiece.
Sophomore James Southerland pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds, helping Syracuse to a 50-34 advantage on the boards. Sophomore Brandon Triche dished out seven assists, while freshman Dion Waiters had five. Freshman Fab Melo was in the starting lineup in his Orange debut and blocked four shots to go along with nine points and four rebounds.
SCOUTING LE MOYNE
The Dolphins will take the court for the first time in 2010-11 when it takes on Syracuse. Tuesday's game is Le Moyne's only exhibition game before hosting Queens (N.Y.) in its regular-season opener on Saturday, Nov. 13.
Le Moyne was picked to finish 13th in the Northeast-10 Conference in the preseason coaches' poll. The Dolphins return eight letterwinners and two starters from last year's squad that went 18-10 overall and finished fourth in the conference standings. Junior Chris Johnson is Le Moyne's leading returning scorer after averaging 12.3 points per game last season. He enters this season ranked fourth on the school's career leader list for three-pointers made with 171. Senior Kevin Roth started all 28 games last season and averaged 10.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
Head coach Steve Evans enters his 11th season at the helm of the Dolphins' program. He has an all-time record of 140-143 (.495). Prior to coming to Le Moyne, Evans, a native of Rome, N.Y., was an assistant coach at Northwestern and Siena.
THE SERIES
