SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Sophomore Carmen Tyson-Thomas (Philadelphia, Pa.) of the Orange women's basketball team and junior Torrey Ball (Athens, Ga.), are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of Dec. 27, 2010.
Tyson-Thomas has started all 10 games this season for Syracuse. As a guard she is averaging 10.0 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. She has recorded five double-doubles in her career, including three this season. The 2009 BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection was named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the fall 2009 semester.
Tyson-Thomas, a child and family studies major, and the Orange will welcome St. Francis (Pa.) to the Carrier Dome on Tues. Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. and Bryant on Thurs. Dec. 30. at 12 p.m.
Ball, a member of the SU football team, has played in all 12 games this season at defensive end and registered 12 tackles. He was a member of 2009 fall and 2010 spring Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the 2009 BIG EAST All-Academic Team.
