Ratuins led all scorers after converting 6-of-11 from the field, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range, and 9-of-11 from the free-throw line. With his five threes, Rautins moved into sole possession of second place on the SU career charts for 3-pointers made with 251. Current graduate assistant Gerry McNamara tops the list with 400 career trifectas.
Junior Wes Johnson paired 16 points with eight rebounds and four blocked shots while Jackson had 12 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Kris Joseph rounded out the double-digit scorers, posting 11 points in a reserve role.
Rautins opened the game with a three, as the Orange outscored the Hoyas, 13-2, through the first four minutes of play. Rautins had five points in the scoring spurt while Brandon Triche and Johnson each had three.
With SU ahead, 20-6, Georgetown assembled a 9-0 run to pull within five, 20-15, with 9:22 remaining in the first half. Syracuse responded, outscoring the Hoyas, 11-5 through the next four minutes to reestablish its lead, 31-20.
Johnson closed out the half, personally outscoring the Hoyas, 9-7, to send the Orange into the locker room with a 44-31 lead.
The second half quickly turned into a defensive battle, with neither team scoring a field goal through the first three minutes. Despite the strong defensive play, Syracuse maintained its lead, outscoring the Hoyas, 16-6 to take a 60-37 lead with 12:24 left on the clock.

Austin Freeman made a free throw and a field goal to make it a one-possession game, 67-65 with 3:14 remaining before Joseph reasserted the buffer with a layup, 69-67. Back-to-back field goals by Greg Monroe cancelled out a pair of free throws by the Orange and Monroe netted a free throw to make it a one-point game, 71-70, with 1:10 left to play.
Joseph weaved through traffic, netting a crucial layup with 11 seconds to play, and giving SU a 73-70 lead. Jason Clark converted one of two free throw attempts, but Rautins cancelled them out with a pair of shots from the charity stripe with five seconds left, producing the final, 75-71. His second free throw gave Rautins 1,000 career points, making him the 52nd SU player to join the list. Ironically, the 51st slot is currently owned by Andy's father, Leo, who accumulated 1,031 points in his tenure.
