Hall Hits Career-High Against the Best
Freshman guard Elashier Hall registered a career-high 11 points against No. 1/1 Connecticut on Feb. 24. She added four rebounds, a team-best tying two steals and one assist in 18 minutes of action. It was her second consecutive career day after posting a then career-high 10 points in Syracuse's 76-45 victory at Rutgers on Feb. 21. The freshman has led SU in scoring once and blocks on three occasions, while posting two double-figure point games. She is averaging 3.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 15.7 minutes per game.
Last Time Out
Syracuse was defeated, 87-66, by No. 1/1 Connecticut (28-0, 14-0) in front of 3,230 fans at the Carrier Dome on Feb. 24. The Orange was led by three players who each scored 11 points, including senior forward Juanita Ward, junior guard Erica Morrow and freshman guard Elashier Hall, who set a career-high. SU was unable to contain Maya Moore, who was averaging 18.1 points going into the contest and recorded 38 points against the Orange, while pulling down 20 of the team's 50 rebounds.
Orange Against the Blue Demons
In just the fifth meeting between DePaul and Syracuse, the Blue Demons hold the 3-1 advantage in the all-time series, including an 87-79 victory last season. The Orange won the last meeting in Chicago, 69-66, on Jan. 29, 2008, which was its first victory against a ranked opponent since it won 76-71 at No. 24/22 Boston College on Jan. 18, 2003.
Last Meeting
Syracuse had four players score in double-digits, but it was not enough as DePaul defeated the Orange, 87-79, at the Carrier Dome on Feb. 17, 2009. Erica Morrow led the Orange with 19 points, while Chandrea Jones registered 17 points, a team 10-rebounds and four steals. Nicole Michael and Vionca Murray rounded out SU's double-digit scorers with 14 and 12 points, respectively. DePaul's perimeter attack proved to be the difference as the visitors shot 14-of-34 (.412) from beyond the arc. SU dominated in the paint, 40-16, and points in transition, 18-4, but its 26.1 percent shooting (6-23) from downtown paled in comparison to DePaul's output.
