
Orange Remains Perfect in BIG EAST Play

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange (9-2, 3-0) remained undefeated in BIG EAST play with a 7-0 sweep of Pittsburgh (3-2, 1-2) on Sunday morning at the Drumlins Tennis Center. The win snapped a three-match unbeaten streak for the Panthers, while Syracuse has only lost one match in BIG EAST play this season, going 20-1 against conference foes.
Freshman CC Sardinha earned her first BIG EAST victory at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-3 win while sophomore Emily Harman outlasted her opponent at the second slot, 6-0, 6-4. Senior transfer Eleanor Peters extended her team-leading singles record to 12-1 on the season with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 while sophomore Alessondra Parra won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 4 position. Junior Simone Kalhorn earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory at fifth singles while junior co-captain Christina Tan earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6.
Harman teamed with senior Chelsea Jones in doubles action, leading the Orange to a sweep of the doubles point with an 8-7 (2) tiebreaker win at No. 1. Sardinha and Kalhorn combined for an 8-2 victory at second doubles while Peters and Parra joined forces to complete the sweep, 8-1, at No. 3.
Syracuse returns to the Drumlins Tennis Center to host Bucknell on Sunday, March 7 at 11 a.m.
