
No. 16 Michigan Halts SU Win Streak

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – No. 16 Michigan ended Syracuse's undefeated run, sweeping the Orange 7-0 on Saturday at the Michigan Varsity Tennis Center. Syracuse moved to 4-1 on the season with the loss while the win was the fourth straight for the Wolverines.
Sophomore Emily Harman and junior Christina Tan won the lone match of the day for the Orange, defeating Denise Muresan and Tania Mahtani, 8-6, at the top doubles spot.
Despite the Syracuse victory at No. 1, Michigan secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Freshman CC Sardinha and senior Chelsea Jones fell, 8-3, to Whitney Taney and Rika Tatsuno at the second doubles spot while junior Simone Kalhorn and senior Eleanor Peters lost their first match as a tandem, 8-4.
The Wolverines cemented the victory in singles play, sweeping all six spots. Muresan defeated Harman at No. 1, 6-3, 6-1, while No. 102 Alessondra Parra dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Mahtani at No. 2.
Syracuse completes its three-game road swing when it visits Michigan State on Sunday, February 7 at 10 a.m.
