
Syracuse Ends Spring Break Trip with Loss to FSU

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Syracuse (12-13) ended its 10-day spring break trip with a 3-0 loss to 16/16 Florida State, 3-0. The Orange offense was shut out for only the second time this season in the loss.
Junior Rachel Helman and sophomore Jenna Caira each tallied hits for the Orange, with Caira hitting her first career triple.
Senior pitcher Brittany Gardner allowed one earned run off of three hits while striking out eight in 6.0 innings.
Tight defense and strong pitching kept the game scoreless until the bottom of the fourth, when the Seminoles put a pair of runs on the board. FSU chalked up its final run in the bottom of the sixth, producing the final, 3-0.
Syracuse returns to New York to open its home schedule against Buffalo on Wednesday, March 24 with first pitch set for 2 p.m.
