SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Christina Dove (Bel Air, Md.) and senior Rob Long (Downington, Pa.) are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of April 12, 2010.
Dove is a midfielder on the women's lacrosse team. She leads the team with 40 goals on the season while ranking second with 54 points. Dove ranks second on the SU record list for points in a season (100) and holds the single-season record for goals in a season with 75 in 2008.
Dove is an accounting and finance major in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. The women's lacrosse team hosts Loyola in the Carrier Dome on Friday, April 16 at 6 p.m. before entertaining Villanova on Sunday, April 18 at 1 p.m.
Long is a punter on the football team. He averaged 43.8 yards per punt in 2009 to rank third in the BIG EAST and 15th nationally. Long's 42.83 career yards per punt average ranks sixth among active kickers in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
Long is a marketing management major in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. The football team holds its annual spring game on Saturday, April 17 at 1 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
