Dove and Hogan Earn BIG EAST Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Christina Dove has earned the BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week award, the conference announced on Monday, April 26. It marks the second consecutive week and the fifth time this season that Dove has received the honor. In addition, junior Liz Hogan has been named to the weekly Honor Roll.
Dove recorded 14 points, including 11 goals, and became the school's all-time leader in goals scored in Syracuse's three wins last week. She scored a pair of goals in SU's 7-6 win at Cornell. Her second goal of the game tied the score at 6-6 with just more than eight minutes remaining in the game. She led the Orange with four goals in its win at Cincinnati. Dove scored three of her goals in the first 12 minutes as SU raced out to a 5-0 lead. Against Louisville, she again led Syracuse with eight points on five goals and three assists. She now has 236 career goals, surpassing the previous mark of 232 set by Katie Rowan (2006-09). Dove leads the Orange in scoring (77 pts.) and goals (55) this season.
Hogan is making her third appearance on the Honor Roll during the 2010 campaign. Hogan recorded 27 saves in Syracuse's three wins last week. She had nine saves, four ground balls and a caused turnover in SU's 7-6 win at Cornell. Her final save was at the buzzer to preserve Syracuse's one-goal win. Hogan had six saves, two ground balls and two caused turnovers at Cincinnati. Against Louisville, Hogan recorded 12 saves, picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers. She held the Cardinals scoreless for nearly 17 minutes to start the second half as SU built a five-goal lead. It marked the seventh time this season Hogan has reached double figures in saves. She leads the BIG EAST with an 8.34 goals-against average and ranks second in save percentage (.520).
Syracuse plays its final regular-season game on Saturday when it hosts BIG EAST rival Georgetown at 1 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Admission is free of charge.
