SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After advancing to the national semifinals for the second time in three seasons, Syracuse finished fourth in the final Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll. That ranking matches the highest final ranking in school history. The Orange was also ranked fourth in the final IWLCA poll in 2008.
Syracuse, which was ranked No. 10 in the final regular-season poll, received 336 votes. National champion Maryland was ranked No. 1, receiving all 20 first-place votes, followed by national finalist Northwestern and North Carolina.
The Orange was one of five BIG EAST teams ranked in the final poll, which led all conferences. Georgetown, Notre Dame, Loyola and Rutgers also finished in the top 20.
Syracuse posted a record of 15-6 in 2010 and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Orange defeated both Georgetown and James Madison on the road to become just the second unseeded team to advance to the national semifinals since 2005.
