SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse (13-0) looks to capture its fourth tournament title of the season when it heads to Ohio for the two-day, three-match Kent State Tournament. The Orange will face Louisiana-Monroe, Duquesne and host Kent State beginning Friday, September 17 at 3 p.m.
A LOOK AT SYRACUSE AS A TEAM
• Syracuse's 13-0 record marks the best season start in program history.
• SU captured its third-straight tournament title last weekend when it defeated Stony Brook, Rider, Harvard and Fordham to capture the Rose Hill Classic championship ... It marks the first time the Orange has opened the season with three tournament titles.
• The Orange currently sits atop the BIG EAST standings as the conference's only remaining undefeated team.
• Syracuse has won its last eight games by sweeps, going 24-0 since last dropping a set to North Texas on Sept. 3.
• SU leads the BIG EAST with a .331 team hitting percentage, 62 points above the next closest team, preseason favorite Cincinnati.
• Syracuse has hit .412 or better in three matches this season, .412 versus Stony Brook, .427 against Rider and .444 at Fordham.
• The Orange also ranks among the conference top five in assists/set (fourth with 12.43), kills/set (third with 14.15) and blocks per set (third with 2.50).
• Every player on the Syracuse roster has played in at least four sets this season.
A LOOK AT SYRACUSE INDIVIDUALLY
• Freshman middle blocker Lindsay McCabe earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors on Sept. 13 for her performance at the Rose Hill Classic ... McCabe averaged 2.83 kills per set and 0.75 blocks per set through the four matches while hitting a blistering .527 ... McCabe currently ranks second among BIG EAST hitters with a .448 hitting percentage and fifth with a 1.17 blocks per set average.
• Junior outside hitter Noemie Lefebvre was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after garnering Rose Hill Classic MVP honors over the weekend ... Lefebvre has been named to three all-tournament teams this season and was also Colgate Classic MVP ... She led the team through the weekend with 3.82 kills per set and 2.18 digs per set ... Lefebvre currently ranks fourth among BIG EAST student-athletes with 4.12 points per set and 3.69 kills per set.
• Junior outside hitter Erin Little made her return from injury at the Rose Hill Classic, posting eight kills in four sets ... Little missed the first nine games of the season with a left ankle injury.
• Sophomore middle blocker Samantha Hinz ranks fourth among BIG EAST hitters with a .391 hitting percentage, seventh with a 1.08 blocks per set average and ninth with 0.39 service aces per set.
• Sophomore setter Laura Homann is the best young setter in the BIG EAST, ranking third overall with 10.89 assists per set behind Marquette senior Nikki Klingsporn and Cincinnati senior Annie Fesl.
A LOOK AT THE SERIES
• Syracuse is 3-4 all-time against the Kent State Tournament field.
• SU and Louisiana-Monroe will meet for the first time in program history on Friday.
• Syracuse and Duquesne will meet for the first time in 31 years, the teams first and only meeting to date was in 1979 where the Orange emerged victorious.
• Kent State leads the all-time series, 4-2, which dates back to 1982. The teams most recently met in 2005 at the Kent State invitational where Syracuse won, 3-0.
