
Late Niagara Goal Edges Orange

NIAGARA, N.Y. – A goal with 21 seconds remaining in regulation lifted Niagara past Syracuse 1-0 at Dwyer Arena on Friday. The Orange drops to 10-12-3 overall and 4-3 in CHA play, while the Purple Eagles move to 7-12-4 and 4-2-1 in CHA action.
Despite outshooting Niagara 28-18, the Orange was held scoreless through 60 minutes of play for the third time this season. Sophomore Isabel Menard tallied a game-high six shots, while senior Ashley Cockell added five.
With just 21 seconds to play, Niagara's Jenna Hendrikx found the back of the net to edge the Orange.
SU held a slight advantage in faceoffs, 25-21. Menard led the Orange with 9-of-14 faceoff wins. Freshman goaltender Kallie Billadeau made 17 saves in net for Syracuse.
