Trailing 1-0 heading into the third period, the Orange offense scored two goals 25 seconds apart to earn a sweep of Connecticut, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at Tennity Ice Pavilion. Megan Skelly and Allie LaCombe scored for SU (5-6-0), which extended its winning streak to three games. Jenesica Drinkwater made 22 saves between the pipes for Syracuse, which will travel to No. 3 Cornell on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. showdown.

During the winning streak, the Orange has outshot its opponents by an average of 18 shots per game. Saturday was no different as SU held a 35-23 edge in shots for the game as Connecticut goaltender Alexandra Garcia made 33 saves. Neither team could capitalize while on the man advantage, however, as Syracuse was 0-of-3 and UConn 0-of-4.

UConn opened the scoring with its first goal of the weekend nine minutes into the first period as Stephanie Raithby made the Orange pay for a turnover in the neutral zone by pouncing on the loose puck, skating in on Drinkwater and roofing a shot under the crossbar for her first goal of the season.

The Huskies continued to test Drinkwater throughout the game, forcing the Brantford, Ont. native to make several key saves to keep the Orange in the game. Syracuse was forced to kill of a five-on-three power play for 1:46, and Margot Scharfe came up with a huge shot block on an attempt from the point.

The SU offense came alive midway through the third period as Skelly notched her second goal of the season when she banged home a rebound on the doorstep. Scharfe and Caitlin Roach were credited with assists on the play, extending Roach's point streak to five games.

Just 25 seconds later, LaCombe netted the game-winner as she took a pass from Nicole Ferrara and snuck a shot through the legs of Garcia for the score. The Huskies pulled Garcia with 1:53 remaining in regulation in favor of the extra skater, but the Orange was able to stave off the UConn attack in the waning seconds to secure the victory.
