SYRACUSE, N.Y. – #4/3 Syracuse (7-0) plays its first ranked opponent on Friday night against #10/9 Florida (5-1), as part of the BIG EAST/SEC challenge. Tipoff at the Carrier Dome is set for 7:00 p.m., and will be televised by ESPN.

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ORANGE:
The Orange defeated Eastern Michigan 84-48 on Tuesday, and has now started the season 7-0 for the fourth-consecutive year. James Southerland led Syracuse by tying his career-high with 19 points, while SU made a season-high 13 three's against the Eagles.
Reigning BIG EAST Player of the Week Kris Joseph is averaging a team-best 14.7 points and has reached double-figures in all but one game this season. Joseph is shooting 49 percent from the field and 41 percent from three point range. He also averages the second most rebounds on the team with 5.7 per game.
Scoop Jardine is coming off a season-high seven assist performance against EMU. Jardine leads the team with 29 assists and has averaged 5.0 assists per game in the last four contests.
SCOUTING THE GATORS:
Florida defeated Stetson by 26 last time out, giving head coach Billy Donovan his 400th career coaching victory. Donovan became the youngest active coach to pass the 400-win threshold.
Florida receives most of its scoring from the backcourt as the Gators' top four scorers are guards. Kenny Boynton is averaging a team-best 18.5 points per game, followed by Bradley Beal (17.0 ppg), Erving Walker (13.7 ppg) and key reserve Mike Rosario (12.0 ppg). Sophomore Patrick Young anchors the front line, averaging 10.2 points and a team-best 7.7 rebounds an outing.
SU AND FLORIDA HEAD-TO-HEAD:
Friday marks the fourth ever meeting between the Orange and the Gators, with SU leading the series 2-1. The two teams last met during the 2009-10 campaign in Tampa, Fla., when the Orange was victorious 85-73.
