SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- No. 1-ranked Syracuse (13-0) hosts Seton Hall (11-1) on Wednesday, Dec. 28 in the BIG EAST opener for both teams. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Tickets for Wednesday's game are available online, by phone (1-888-DOMETIX) or in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office. The game will be televised live on the BIG EAST Network and on MSG. Fans can also follow the action on the Syracuse IMG Radio Network and its flagship TK99 (99.5 FM). The audio stream of the broadcast will be available on Orange All Access on SUathletics.com. ORANGE EXTENDS WINNING STREAK
Syracuse has opened the season with 13 straight wins for the third consecutive year. The Orange started last season by winning its first 18 games, which marked the second-best start in school history. SU was one win away from equaling the program's best start of 19-0 in 1999-2000.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ORANGE
The Orange extended its winning streak with an 80-61 victory against Tulane on Tuesday, Dec. 22. Sophomore Dion Waiters scored a team-high 15 points as three SU players reached double figures in scoring.
With the game knotted at 14, #C.J. Fair# broke the deadlock with a jumper from the baseline at the 10:09 mark of the first half, giving SU the advantage which the Orange would hold for the remainder of the game. With the Orange leading 22-19, Kris Joseph drained a three to jumpstart a19-0 Orange run which spanned the final 5:46 of the half, and gave SU a 41-19 lead at the break.
Syracuse protected its lead in the second half, leading by as many as 25 before recording the 19-point victory. Joseph finished with 13 points, while James Southerland came off the bench to contribute 10 points.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE PIRATES
Seton Hall enters Wednesday's game on an eight-game winning streak, which has improved its record to 11-1. The Pirates are No. 7 in the latest RPI.
Herb Pope is second in the BIG EAST in scoring (20.3 ppg) and rebounding (11.4 rpg). Jordan Theodore and Fuquan Edwin are also averaging double figures in scoring, averaging 15.8 and 14.0 points per game, respectively.
Kevin Willard is in his second year at the helm of the Seton Hall program. In his first season, he guided the Pirates to a 13-18 record. Previously, he was the head coach at Iona for three seasons.
THE SERIES
Syracuse leads the all-time series with Seton Hall, 45-16. The Pirates defeated the Orange, 90-68, in the Carrier Dome last season, snapping SU's five-game winning streak against SHU.
