SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Keriann Miller of the women's crew team and Darryl White of the track & field team are the Syracuse University Scholar Athletes of the Week for December 5, 2011.
A native of McLean, Va., Miller is a senior majoring in marketing and retail management. She is a two time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, and has appeared on the Syracuse University Athletic Director's Honor Roll three times in her career.
On the water, Miller is a three-time letterwinner. After spending the 2008-09 season in SU's novice boat, Miller worked her way up to the second varsity eight last season. This past fall, she stroked the Orange varsity four to victory at the Head of the Genesee before being sidelined with an injury.
White, a senior majoring in social work, was a 2009-10 BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection. He has been on the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll twice.
A native of Detroit, Mich., White got his senior campaign off to a fast start by qualifying for the IC4As with a seventh place finish in the 60-meter dash last weekend at the Cornell Relays. White ran a time of 6.93.
The women's rowing team is off through the winter break, while the track & field team will compete next on January 21, 2012 at Cornell.
