Swimming Readies For Season Finale

Meet Schedule
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University swim team readies for its 2011 regular-season finale beginning Friday, February 4 when it hosts BIG EAST foes Villanova and Providence at Archbold Pool. Friday action begins at 5 p.m. with three swimming events and concludes with diving competition. The meet continues Saturday at 10 a.m. with the final 10 swimming competitions.
The meet marks the final home contest in the collegiate careers of SU's four seniors – Kuba Kotynia, Stephanie Lefebvre-Kuczynski, Katie Lewinski and Brian Zimmerman. Syracuse's senior class will be honored prior to Friday's competition.
Entering Friday's competition, six Orange student-athletes have posted BIG EAST qualifying marks. Kuczynski is qualified for postseason competition in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke while Alice Stejskal is a 100 breaststroke qualifier. Junior Chelsea Bryan will make her return to BIG EAST Championship competition in 2011, posting three-consecutive conference qualifying marks in the 50 freestyle while adding another in the 100 free.
On the men's side, Kotynia has notched BIG EAST qualifying marks in every event in which he has competed during the 2011 season. An NCAA qualifier in the 200 breaststroke, Kotynia will compete in the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM at the BIG EAST Championships. Sophomore Chad Flanick added BIG EAST qualifying marks in the 100 and 200 breast while Zimmerman will feature in 100 and 200 butterfly competition.
Following this weekend's competition, the Orange advances to the BIG EAST competition Feb. 16-19 in Louisville, Ky.
