SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University track and field team will participate in the Princeton Sam Howell Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 1 and 2. Click here for a complete schedule and live results of this weekend's events.
For many members of the Orange this will mark the first competition of the 2011 outdoor season. Syracuse kicked off the season last weekend at the Asics/Winthrop Invitational and the Stanford Invitational. After just one week of outdoor action, five SU student-athletes rank first in the BIG EAST in their respective events, while three others rank second. Three athletes also rank among the top in the nation.
Junior Lauren Penney and senior Katie Hursey rank first and second in the BIG EAST and third and fourth in the nation in the 5000m run, respectively. Senior Kelsey Rubeor's 5,337 points in the heptathlon are first in the conference and second in the nation.
Senior Catherine DeSarle and junior Natalie Busby own the first and second spots in the 10,000m run among conference competitors, respectively. Junior Cassie White tops the BIG EAST in the 3,000m steeplechase.
On the men's side, junior Tito Medrano and senior Jay Koloseus rank first and second in the conference in the 10,000m run, respectively.
