Loyola is BIG EAST Tournament Foe

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The pairings are set for the 2011 BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Tournament, which starts Thursday, May 5 at Multi-Sport Field on the Georgetown University campus. Syracuse earned the No. 2 seed and will take on No. 3 seed Loyola at 5:30 p.m. in the first semifinal. The No. 1 seed Hoyas take on No. 4 seed Notre Dame in the second game of the night.
CBS Sports Network will televise both semifinals as well as the championship game on Saturday, May 7 at 1 p.m.
Syracuse and Georgetown shared the BIG EAST regular-season title with 7-1 league records. The Hoyas defeated the Orange, 12-8, during the regular season to earn the tournament's top seed. Loyola and Notre Dame tied for third in the league standings with 6-2 marks. The Greyhounds earned the No. 3 seed by defeating the Fighting Irish, 13-10, during the regular season.
The Orange enters the league tournament on a five-game winning streak, which has improved its record to 10-7. Syracuse has qualified for every BIG EAST Tournament since it began in 2007. The Orange won back-to-back titles in 2007 and 2008. The winner of this year's tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
