BIG EAST Preview: Friday Events

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The 2011 BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships kickoff today at Villanova University. Four members of Syracuse's track and field team will represent the Orange on Friday, May 6 in the first day of competition.
Senior Kwaku Boah will compete in the hammer throw. The Baldwin, N.Y. native won the weight throw title at the 2011 BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The Orange women boast three student-athletes in the heptathlon. The first four events will take place on Friday with the remaining three wrapping up on Saturday. Senior Kelsey Rubeor enters the championship ranked second in the conference. Sophomore Erica Belanger and freshman Amber Passalaqua will also represent the Orange. Friday's competition will feature the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meter dash for the SU trio.
