Hursey Advances to Steeplechase Finals

DES MOINES, Iowa - Katie Hursey placed sixth in the first of two heats to automatically advance to the finals of the 3,000 meter steeplechase on Thursday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The finals will be contested on Saturday, June 11 at 12:54 CT live on CBS.
Hursey's time of 10:09.30 was just one second shy of her personal-best time that sent her to Des Moines (10:08.44).
Senior Kelsey Rubeor is sitting in 14th with 3,225 points after completing four of the seven events in the heptathlon. Thursday's performance was highlighted by her third-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 13.15 meters.
Flings Owusu-Agyapong finished seventh in her heat and 20th overall with a time of 11.72 in the 100 meter dash.
The BIG EAST 10,000 meter champion, Tito Medrano, will be competing in the finals this afternoon at 4 p.m. CT. The event was postponed until today due to inclement weather in the Des Moines area last night.
The entire NCAA Championships will be streamed live online at NCAA.com, and feature two separate streams to cover the majority of the action both on the track and with the field events.
