SYRACUSE, N.Y. – As the all-time leader in career field goal percentage (.648), Syracuse center Arinze Onuaku was part of Jim Boeheim's Fantasy Camp last week.
With the current NBA lockout, Onuaku is weighing his options of playing overseas.
What you are doing to stay busy?
“I'm just training right now. I just came from a couple of NBA camps and did well there, but obviously there is a lockout. Everyone is headed overseas so that is probably the next move for me.”
Have you been in contact with teams over there?
"Yeah, there are offers that come back and forth all the time, but you just have to see what the best situation for you is. Nothing is locked in yet, but I should know within the next month or so."
How is it being here with all the former SU legends?
"It's good. There is a huge group of guys here who played professionally and have all that knowledge, so being around them and just hearing their stories is always great."
You had the Carmelo Anthony Basketball Practice Facility for one year, but what do you think it does for the program?
"It's great for recruiting and it's great for the team that is here to have 24 hour access to this place. I think that is a main reason why we had such a good season my senior year – going 30-5 and getting off to the best start in school history. All the hours we put in here really showed."
What is your favorite memory at Syracuse?
"There are too many. I don't know if I can point to just one. In four or five years there is so much that happens, but one thing I can say is that I wouldn't take it back for anything. I loved it here and I had a great time – as a player and a student."
