THE SERIES
Syracuse and Georgetown will meet for the 11th time at the SU Soccer Stadium on Friday. The Orange leads the all-time series, 5-4-1. SU has not faced the Hoyas since 2008, when Georgetown captured a 3-0 victory in the nation's capital. The game was played nearly two weeks after the originally scheduled match-up due to a flu outbreak on the GU campus.
SCOUTING THE HOYAS
Ingrid Wells leads the Hoyas in scoring this season with 13 points on a team-high five goals. Samantha Baker and Daphne Corboz have four goals each, while Baker has recorded a team-best four assists. Elizabeth Hanna and Hanna Monson have both started in goal for Georgetown, with Hanna ranking 10th in the BIG EAST in both saves (28) and save percentage (.757). Hanna has also posted three shutouts, which is tied for sixth among BIG EAST goalkeepers.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ORANGE
Syracuse opened BIG EAST play last week, splitting a pair of contests. The Orange lost to Connecticut, 1-0, in its league opener before defeating Providence, 1-0, at the SU Soccer Stadium. Sophomore Lauren DeCarlo scored her first career goal in the 88th minute to defeat the Friars. Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Anghel posted another shut out against Providence, giving her four for the season.
DECARLO LEADS ORANGE BY FRIARS
Sophomore Lauren DeCarlo played the final 5:20 seconds of Syracuse's game against Providence, and she made the most of her playing time. DeCarlo came off the bench in the 84th minute to replace Casey Ramirez after she collided with a Friars' player. Two minutes later, DeCarlo recorded her first career goal to give the Orange a 1-0 victory.
ORANGE HOSTS FOOD DRIVE
Syracuse will hold a second food drive on Friday, Sept. 23 to benefit the victims of flooding in the Binghamton, N.Y. area. The food drive is being coordinated by senior Megan Bellingham, a Binghamton native. All fans attending the Orange's contest against Georgetown are asked to bring non-perishable food items.
