Kingston, R.I. -- Syracuse tries to extend its unbeaten streak to three games when it takes on Rhode Island on Sunday, Sept. 4 at 1 p.m. in Kingston, R.I. The Orange enters the contest with a record of 1-1-1, while the Rams are 2-0-1.
THE SERIES
Syracuse and Rhode Island have met only once in women's soccer. The Rams defeated the Orange,
3-1, at the SU Soccer Stadium in 2007.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
Rhode Island is coming off a 1-0 victory against Stony Brook on Thursday, Sept. 1. Freshman Samantha Leyh tallied her first collegiate goal off a corner kick in the 68th minute, and Reilly Lindsey registered her second consecutive shutout in the win.
Stephanie Santos is the Rams' leading scorer this season with four points on two goals. Lindsey has played every minute in goal for Rhode Island. She has a 0.31 goals-against average.
MOVING ON UP
Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Anghel took over sole possession of fifth place on Syracuse's all-time shutouts leader list with her performance against Boston College. Anghel made four saves for her eighth career shutout against the Eagles. She needs three more shutouts to tie Riley Wogamon (1996-99) for fourth place.
