
Tomaszewski and Carrie-Mattimoe will both be in action at home this weekend

Holly Carrie-Mattimoe of ice hockey and Matt Tomaszewski of men's basketball are the Syracuse University Scholar Athletes of the Week for January 2, 2012.
Carrie-Mattimoe, a junior from Sherwood Park, Alberta, is majoring in Sociology. She was named to the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll following the 2011 spring semester.
On the ice, Carrie-Mattimoe leads the Orange with 14 points (nine goals, five assists) this season, including nine points in her last nine games. Of her nine goals, four have come on the power play, which is tied for 18th in the nation. Her 14 career power play tallies are one shy of tying Julie Rising's school record of 15.
Tomaszewski is a senior from Seabrook, N.H., majoring in advertising. He has been named to the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll in each of his past four semesters with the Orange. Tomaszewski has appeared in eight games for Syracuse this season, averaging 1.8 points per game on 5-of-8 shooting.
The ice hockey team will be back in action on Monday at Colgate before returning to Tennity Ice Pavilion to host No. 5 Mercyhurst on Friday (7:00 p.m.) and Saturday (2:00 p.m.). The men's basketball team is off until Wednesday when the Orange travel to Providence before a matchup with No. 13 Marquette on Saturday at the Dome.
