SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse men's basketball team (22-1, 9-1 BIG EAST) moved up to No. 2 in both the AP and ESPN/USA TODAY Coaches Polls on Monday. Syracuse received two first-place votes in the AP poll. Kentucky remained in the top spot in both polls.
The Orange moved from last Monday's ranking of fourth in the Coaches Poll and from third in the AP poll, to second in both. The jump came following a week where the Orange earned two BIG EAST victories, at Cincinnati (60-53), and against West Virginia (63-61).
Syracuse has not been ranked outside of the top five in either poll this season. The Orange face upcoming challenges at St. John's (Feb. 4) followed by home contests with Georgetown (Feb. 8) and Connecticut (Feb. 11).
