Syracuse continues BIG EAST play on Saturday, Oct. 13 when it visits High Point Solutions Stadium for a noon kickoff against No. 20 Rutgers (BIG EAST Network). The Orange (2-3, 1-0 BIG EAST) opened up conference play with a 14-13 win against Pittsburgh in its league opener. The Scarlet Knights enter the game undefeated at 5-0 and 2-0 in the BIG EAST.
Syracuse vs. Rutgers
Syracuse leads the all-time series, 30-11-1, with head coach Doug Marrone notching a 2-1 record against the Scarlet Knights in his time as head coach. This will be the 43rd all-time meeting between the Orange and Scarlet Nights. The two schools have played every year since 1980. One of the most memorable wins against Rutgers happened in 2010, when SU's win against the Scarlet Knights secured them a spot in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.

Sharpe Earns National Attention
Defensive end Brandon Sharpe was named the BIG EAST Conference Defensive Player of the Week andthe College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Defensive Player and National Defensive Lineman of the Week. Sharpe set career in tackles (7), tackles for loss (6.0) and sacks (4.0) in the Orange's 14-13 win against Pittsburgh on Oct. 5. He led an Orange defense that sacked Panthers quarterback Tino Sunseri five times and surrendered only 27 rushing yards in the contest.
Dynamic Duo
Senior receivers Alec Lemon and Marcus Sales have combined for 251 career receptions. Lemon is program's all-time leader with 150 catches, while Sales ranks 10th (101). They are first pair of SU teammates to each make 100 grabs.
Go Long, Jarrod
Wideout Jarrod West is tied for second on the Orange in receptions (21) owns sole possession of second place in the team in receiving yards (317). West leads all Syracuse receivers (min. 6 receptions) at 15.1 yards per catch. West leads all Syracuse pass-catchers (min. 6
receptions) at 15.1 yards per catch. He has three receptions of at least 30 yards.
Davis Scoops and Scores
Linebacker Dyshawn Davis picked up a Drew Carswell fumble and returned it for a 52-yard touchdown in the first quarter against Pittsburgh. The score proved to be the winning margin in a 14-13 triumph against the Panthers. Safety Jeremi Wilkes was credited with jarring the ball free from Carswell. The score was SU's second defensive touchdown under head coach Doug Marrone, and the fourth TD of the Marrone Era that has come via either defense or special teams.
