SU Defeats Bloomsburg 103-60 In Final Exhibition Game of the Season

Nine different players scored for the Orange, including five in double-digits, in a 103-60 exhibition-game victory against Division II Bloomsburg on Sunday afternoon in the Carrier Dome.
SU closed out the exhibition portion of its schedule with a 2-0 record. The Orange defeated Division II Pace on Thursday night. Syracuse now prepares for "The Battle On The Midway," a November 9 meeting with nationally-ranked San Diego State that will be played on the deck of the USS Midway in San Diego.
"We're looking forward to this week - the preparation and going to San Diego," head coach Jim Boeheim said. "It's a great event and it will be a great opening game for us. We're looking forward to that."
Senior guard Brandon Triche led the Orange offense with 23 points, while senior forward James Southerland and sophomore guard Michael Carter-Williams added 17 and 15 points, respectively. Junior forward C.J. Fair contributed 12 points and freshman forward Jerami Grant had 11. Carter-Williams led Syracuse with eight assists and Fair had a squad-best five steals.
Triche, who tallied 18 points in the first half, shot 9-of-11 from the field, 2-of-3 on three-pointers and 3-of-5 from the four line.
Syracuse converted .592 (42-of-71) of its shots from the field while holding the Huskies to .407 (22-of-54). The SU defense forced 25 turnovers, which led to a 40-7 advantage in points off miscues.
Fair opened the games scoring, converting a field goal into a three-point play after sinking a free throw. Bloomsburg responded with a 7-2 run but baskets by Triche and Fair erased the visitor's lead. SU did not lose the lead again.
The Orange closed the first half on a 16-0 run, its most significant of the game. Four Syracuse players found the scoring column during the offensive push, led by Triche who contributed two field goals and a free throw. The Orange entered the locker room leading the Huskies, 60-24.
Syracuse continued to dominate the Huskies after the intermission and the lead swelled to 51 points, 98-47, with 7:07 left. Carter-Williams scored eight of his 15 points in the second half.
The exhibition marked the first action for redshirt freshman Trevor Cooney. He had missed the Pace contest after having his tonsils removed. He was cleared for full practice on Friday and contributed two three-pointers and three assists against Bloomsburg.
