SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Fan voting for the finalists of the Bob Cousy Award is now open. Be sure to cast your vote for Scoop Jardine.
The Cousy Award, giving annually to the nation's top point guard, started with over 60 candidates and is now down to 11. Log on to http://www.cousyaward.com/vote.php and vote for Jardine. Fan voting will run for one month, concluding on March 6th. The player that receives the most fan votes will earn one vote toward the final committee vote.
On March 8th, the 11 finalists for the award will be narrowed down to five finalists. The final five players in contention for the award will be presented to Mr. Cousy and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The Hall of Fame committee consists of top college basketball personnel including media members, head coaches, Sports Information Directors and Hall of Famers. The winner of the 2012 Bob Cousy Award will be presented at the Hall of Fame's Class Announcement on Monday, April 2nd in New Orleans, during NCAA Final Four weekend.
Jardine has helped the Orange to a 23-1 record and its best start in program history. Jardine is averaging 8.5 points and leads the team with 4.8 assists this season. The Orange is in action this Wednesday night at the Carrier Dome against Georgetown (7:00 p.m., ESPN).
