Orange Moves Up in National Rankings

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Coming off of its first win against an opponent ranked in the top five since 2006, Syracuse climbed to No. 6 in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll and No. 5 in the deBeer Media Poll. The Orange (2-2) upset No. 4/5 Florida in double overtime on Saturday.
The jump in the rankings adds to the list of accolades for the program following its win against the Gators. Earlier this week, junior Michelle Tumolo and sophomore Alyssa Constantino were named to the BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Honor Roll for their performances against Florida and No. 1 Northwestern last week.
Tumolo registered the first goal of the game versus Florida, as the Orange jumped out to an early 4-0 lead. She also had two assists against the Gators. Tumolo registered five points (3g, 2a) against Northwestern. Constantino led a staunch defensive effort for Syracuse, recording a career-high 13 saves at Florida.
Syracuse is back in action on Saturday, March 10 at 1 p.m. when it takes on No. 3/4 Maryland in College Park, Md.
