CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Syracuse University men's basketball recruit Jerami Grant scored 10 points in 19 minutes in the 2012 Jordan Brand Classic over the weekend. Grant was among twenty student-athletes to participate in the Jordan Brand Classic, an annual all-star game of the elite high school basketball players in the country. Grant's East All-Americans fell to the West All-Americans, 99-95. Other SU players who have participated in the Jordan Brand Classic include Carmelo Anthony, Paul Harris, Donte Greene, Dion Waiters, Michael Carter-Williams and Rakeem Christmas.
Grant is a 6-foot-7, 190 pound forward from DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, MD. During his senior season, Grant averaged 12.6 points, led his team to a 29-5 record and an Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament championship, where he was named MVP of the tournament. In the 2012 A.C.I.T. championship game, Grant scored a season-high 23 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked three shots. A.C.I.T is an end of the season tournament in March and is one of the most prestigious Catholic high school basketball competitions in the country.
Also during his senior season, Grant was named MVP of the National High School Hoops Festival and Most Outstanding Player of The Holiday Classic. DeMatha faced off against DaJuan Coleman, SU's other Class of 2012 recruit, of Jamesville-Dewitt in the National Hoops Festival in December. Grant tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds in DeMatha's 83-57 defeat of Jamesville-Dewitt.
In the Jordan Brand Classic, Grant wore jersey number 44, the legendary number of Syracuse University. Grant also participated in the All-American Championship, a showcase of the most talented high school basketball players, which took place in New Orleans, L.A.
