Orange Receives Nine First-Place Votes in Coaches Poll

Syracuse remained No. 2 in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll, but narrowed the distance between it and No. 1 Northwestern to just five points.
The Orange earned nine first-place votes and 379 points. The Wildcats held onto the top spot despite losing its first game of the season to Florida. Northwestern garnered 10 first-place votes 384 points. North Carolina remained at No. 3, while the Gators received one first-place vote and climbed to No. 4 after defeating Northwestern.
Maryland rounds out the top five, followed by Notre Dame, Duke, Penn State, Virginia and Pennsylvania. The Orange's next opponent, Loyola, remained at No. 14.
The Orange also stayed at No. 2 in the deBeer's media poll. Northwestern is No. 1 with 192 points, followed by Syracuse with 186 points. Both teams earned three first-place votes.
