Penn Relays: SU Women Strong In 10,000-M

PHILADELPHIA – Jessie Petersen led five SU women with top-15 finishes in the 10000-meter run at the 118th Penn Relays on Thursday night in Philadelphia. Petersen's time of 35:25.78 qualified her for the BIG EAST Championship next weekend in Tampa, Fla.
Lauren Kersjes trailed closely behind Petersen with a sixth place finish at 35:38.89, just 0.72 seconds behind fifth place finisher Helene DeLone from Indiana. Brenna Symoniak (36:03.00), Alexandra Clinton (36:29.55) and Kimberly Spano (36.38.48) claimed the 10-12 slots for the Orange.
In the field, freshman Klarrisa Ricks went up against strong competition in the women's long jump, and earned a 15th place finish in the event at 5.38-meters.
Syracuse will continue competition at the Penn Relays on Friday at 11:00 a.m. when Ieva Staponkute takes part in the long jump. The SU men will kick off their weekend with the 4x100-meter relays at 12:40 p.m.
