Softball Headed to Tempe For Regionals

2012 NCAA Women's College World Series Bracket
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the third-consecutive season, the Syracuse University softball team (40-14) has earned a berth into the NCAA Tournament. This is the first time in program history the Orange has received an at-large bid and SU will head to Tempe, Ariz. this week for Regional competition.
Joining the Orange in Tempe will be the No. 3 overall-seed and defending National Champion Arizona State Sun Devils (46-7), LIU Brooklyn (25-33) and Long Beach State (28-23). SU and Long Beach State will meet in the first round on Friday at 3:30 p.m. PST/6:30 p.m. EST.
Regionals will be held May 17-20 as the top 16 seeded team host a four team bracket. It is a double elimination format and of those four teams, one will advance to Super Regionals.
Super Regionals, which runs May 24-26, pairs two teams against each other in a best 2-of-3 format with the winner earning a spot in the eight-team Women's College World Series.
The Women's College World Series runs from May 31st through June 6th in Oklahoma City, Okla. It is a double elimination format until two teams remain. Those two remaining teams will play a three game series to decide the National Champion.
The Cal Bears earned the overall No. 1 seed in the tournament, followed by Alabama, Arizona State and Oklahoma.
