SYRACUSE, NY – Perennial Ivy League power Princeton is the latest addition to the non-conference portion of Syracuse's men's basketball schedule. The two teams will meet Wednesday, November 21, in the Carrier Dome.
Syracuse is coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history. The Orange won a school-record 34 games, were 34-3 overall, and won the BIG EAST Conference regular-season title with a 17-1 league record. Syracuse reached the NCAA Tournament's "Elite Eight," before losing to Ohio State.
Coach Mitch Henderson was a member of the 1996 Princeton squad that upset UCLA in the NCAA Tournament. In his first season at the helm, he guided the Tigers to a 20-12 overall record and a spot in the postseason College Basketball Invitational. Princeton lost in the quarterfinals to Pittsburgh, 82-61.
The Tigers have a jump on the 2012-13 campaign in the form of a trip to Spain. Princeton will play four games against Spanish professional teams during the visit.
Syracuse has a 24-9 advantage in the all-time series. The Orange has won the last five encounters with the Tigers, including a 56-45 victory on November 12, 2004. The two programs first met in the 1904-05 campaign.
