SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse Orange volleyball squad (7-8) will host the Niagara Purple Eagles (6-7) on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Women's Building.

WEEK IN REVIEW:
The Orange went 0-2 last week, dropping a 3-2 match against Binghamton in the home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 19 and a 3-0 match at Marquette in the BIG EAST opener on Saturday, Sept. 22. Silvi Uattara and Gosia Wlaszczuk led the Orange offense for the week with 20 or more kills apiece, while Samantha Hinz added six blocks.

SCOUTING THE PURPLE EAGLES:
The Niagara volleyball squad is 6-8 in 2012, after extending their winning streak to three matches with a 3-1 win over Loyola on Sunday, Sept. 23. The night before, the three-time defending MAAC volleyball champion Purple Eagles defeated Rider 3-1 in their season home-opener.

Kari Honomichl is at the helm of the Purple Eagle offense leading the team with 171 kills, averaging 3.49 kills per set. Michelle James also anchors the offense with 430 assists and 101 digs. At the net, Amanda Wilken leads the Purple Eagles with ten solo blocks, tallying 37 total blocks. Allison Reis will contribute to the defense in the libero position, leading the team with 247 digs. Reis earned MAAC Libero of the Week honors on Aug. 27th after recording a career-best 33 digs in the season opener against La Salle in the La Salle Invitational.

UP NEXT:
Syracuse will hit the road for an important BIG EAST road test this weekend. The Orange will face DePaul at 2 p.m. (CT) on Saturday, Sept. 29 before traveling to Notre Dame to take on the Fighting Irish at 2 p.m. (EST) on Sunday, Sept. 30th.
