SYRACUSE, NY – Central Connecticut will be Syracuse's final men's basketball opponent of 2012 when the two squads meet on December 31 in the Carrier Dome.
Syracuse is coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history. The Orange won a school-record 34 games, were 34-3 overall, and won the BIG EAST Conference regular-season title with a 17-1 league record. Syracuse reached the NCAA Tournament's "Elite Eight," before losing to Ohio State.
Howie Dickenman is in his 17th season as the head coach at his alma mater. A former assistant at Connecticut, Dickenman guided the Blue Devils to a 13-16 overall record and a 10-8 mark in the Northeast Conference.
The Orange and Blue Devils are squaring off for the first time on the hardwood.
The remainder of Syracuse's non-conference schedule features three Carrier Dome dates in the Gotham Classic. The dates and opponents have not been announced.
