Orange Volleyball Takes on Nebraska-Omaha

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange volleyball squad is off to the second stop of their ten-day road trip, facing Nebraska-Omaha in the Sapp Fieldhouse on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. In the first meeting between both teams, SU is looking for a win after a disappointing 0-3 run at the Bluejay Invitational last weekend.

LAST WEEK: Lindsay McCabe led the offense for the Orange last weekend recording a team-high 21 kills, with a .500 hitting clip.

Sophomore setter Emily Betteridge ranks seventh in the BIG EAST in assists, after she dished out a team-high 30 assists against Creighton in the Bluejay Invitational. Senior Samantha Hinz also joins the BIG EAST rankings tied for sixth in blocks, after recording four block assists against Kansas State.

SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS:
The Omavs are in their second year as a Division I school, after joining the Summit League in July 2012. UNO returns five letterwinners and one starter from 2011, included senior outside hitter Natalie Ebke who led the team with 320 total kills, ranking second on the team with 309 digs and tallying 13 double doubles.

The UNO squad is 3-3 in 2012, after dropping matches to Arkansas State, Sam Houston State and Tulsa in the Kansas Volleyball Invitational last weekend. Freshman Michaela Schimmer led the Mavericks last weekend with a triple-double against Arkansas State and a double-double against Sam Houston State.

UP NEXT:
Syracuse will head to Ames, Iowa this weekend to take on Iowa, Eastern Washington and tournament host, Iowa State in the Iowa State Tournament.
