On Saturday, Sept. 8, Syracuse football will battle No. 2 USC in New York's College Classic. New York's College team hosts the top-ranked Trojans at MetLife Stadium at 3:30 p.m. (ABC). Fans can listen to the game on Syracuse IMG Sports Network, TK-99.5 FM (Syracuse), ESPN 97.7 (Syracuse) and on SUathletics.com on Orange All-Access. For game highlights, head coach Doug Marrone's postgame press conference and student-athlete interviews, sign on to Orange All Access following the game.
Former Syracuse and New York Giants standouts Joe Morris and David Tyree will participate in the pre-game coin toss on Saturday. Both each won a Super Bowl with the Giants and Morris is Su's all-time leading rusher with 4,299 yards.

For the second straight season, the Orange will line up against USC. In the most recent meeting between the two teams, USC defeated SU at the Coliseum, 38-17 in 2011. USC leads the series, 3-0.
Both Syracuse and USC are two of the winningest programs in the history of college football. The Trojans are ranked ninth with 780 all-time victories and Syracuse is 16th with 690 wins.

Orange in the Meadowlands Region
The Orange have a long history of playing in the Meadowlands region. They have posted a 5-3 record in eight games at Giants Stadium, which closed in 2010. This is Syracuse's first appearance at MetLife Stadium and its first appearance since 2001. SU lost to Georgia Tech in the 2001 Kickoff Classic. Syracuse has recorded victories over West Virginia, Rutgers (three times), and Wisconsin while playing at Giants Stadium.
New York's College Classic will be the second meeting between SU and USC at the Meadowlands region. USC beat the Orange 34-16, in the 1990 Kickoff Classic.
Going Home
Many members of the Syracuse Orange will be returning home this weekend when the team travels to East Rutherford, N.J. Head Coach Doug Marrone will be coaching his team a mere 15 miles away from his hometown of Bronx, N.Y. Marrone also was an assistant coach for the New York Jets from 2002-05. Assistant head coach John Anselmo returns closer to his hometown of Freeport, N.Y. Anselmo was also the head coach at Nassau Community College from 1999-2008.
The Syracuse football roster features 26 players from the New York and New Jersey region, including 19 student-athletes from the New York City area and seven who call the state of New Jersey home.
Offensive Analysis
During the Northwestern game, the SU offensive ran 95 plays (66 pass, 29 run). So far in 2012, the run game has generated 114 yards for an average of 3.9 yards per carry and one touchdown. The aerial attack has totaled 482 yards, four touchdowns and an average of 10.7 yards per completion. Syracuse accumulated 596 total yards of offense and five touchdowns for an average of 6.3 yards per play.
Newcomers Make Impact on Defense
Safety Durell Eskridge and defensive end Markus Pierce-Brewster both had impressive outings on defensive in their first appearance for the Orange. The two combined for 16 tackles, 2.5 TFL and a fumble recovery against Northwestern. Eskridge, who did not appear in any games in 2011, paced the defense with nine tackles against the Wildcats. Pierce-Brewster, a junior college transfer, had seven stops and recovered a fumble.
