
SU Upended in 5-2 Loss to Georgia State

ATLANTA – The No. 72 Syracuse Orange tennis team fell to No. 70 Georgia State on Saturday afternoon in a 5-2 loss at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
After suffering early losses in the doubles competition, the Orange entered the singles competition looking reclaim the lead. The duo of Amanda Rodgers and Komal Safdar claimed the first SU doubles triumph of the season, defeating Joceylyn Ffriend and Linn Timmermann by a score of 8-4.
While sophomores Safdar and Rodgers both picked up a pair of victories on courts two and three, SU couldn't outlast the Panthers. Safdar defeated Masa Grgan 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, while Rodgers triumphed over by a score of 6-3, 3-2, 99-0.
SU will stay on the road for one more match, heading to Boston College on Friday, Jan. 25 before returning home to host its first match of the season at the Drumlins Country Club on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 9:30 a.m.
