UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The Syracuse track and field team finished up competition at the Penn State National. In the unseeded 3000-m race, senior Brenna Symoniak took first place, running the race in 9:49.30, while senior Andrew Nelson took a second place finish in the 1000-m invitational.
In the 1000-m run, freshman Joshua Hayman ran to a second place finish with a time of 2:29.36.
In the unseeded mile even, sophomore Ryan Urie came in 10th place after finishing the race in 4:13.26.
The 3000m invitational had five Orange athletes that competed. Sophomore Martin Hehir finished in fifth (8:12.74), junior Joseph Whelan came in 10th (8:18.08), senior Robert Molke finished in 11th (8:18.33), senior Tito Medrano came in 13th (8:19.81) and sophomore Forrest Misenti finished in 14th (8:33.25).
Senior Will Watson notched a mark of 12.79m in the triple jump, which placed him in ninth.
Freshman Brianna Nerud finished in second place in the 1000-m run, finishing in 2:48.85. Right behind her was junior Molly Malone who came in third (2:51.07). Freshman Karina Ernst ran to a fifth place finish with a time of 2:54.27.
Senior Lauren Penney ran to a second place finish with a time of 4:37.41 in the mile. In the 3000-m invitational, junior Sarah Pagano, came in ninth after running a time of 9:37.66. Senior Erin Cawley finished in 11th (9:42.06), junior Jessie Peterson finished in 14th (9:46.73) and junior Shaylyn Tuite finished in 16th (10:07.17). In the unseeded 3000-m event sophomore Maura Linde came in 10th (10:09.83).
Freshman Mikayla Pearce finished in 18th place in the triple jump with a mark of 11.21m.
