New Balance Collegiate | USA Cross Country Jr. Championships

The Syracuse track and field team will compete in two different events this weekend. The hurdlers, sprinters and field athletes travel to New York City for the New Balance Collegiate on Friday, Feb. 1st, while some distance runners will head to St. Louis for the USA Cross Country Jr. Championships on Saturday, Feb. 2nd. Â

Record Breaking Performances
- Brianna Nerud broke Maegan Krifchin's school record in the 1000m run that was set in the 2008 season. Nerud ran a time of 2:48.85 1,000-m race at the Penn State Nationals. It was her first time running in the race for the Orange.
- Lauren Penney broke her own school record in the mile, this time finishing in 4:37.41. Her previous school record was 4:39.0. She also holds the school record in the 3000-m run (9.12.76).
New Balance Collegiate

60-m Hurdles
- Darren McCluskey, Amadou Gueye and Donald Pollitt will compete in the 60-m hurdles. Pollitt's best time this season came at the Upstate Challenge when he finished with a time of 7.97. Gueye recorded a time of 8.01 at the NYC Gotham Cup.

60-m Dash
- Ashley Keyes, Rebecca Robinson, Shania Harrison and Klarrisa Ricks will run in the 60-m dash. At the NYC Gotham Cup, Harrison ran to a second place finish with a time of 7.42. Keyes registered a time of 7.70 at the Upstate Challenge in the race.Â
- Colin Reno, Jaquan Holland, Jihaad Howard and Nathanial Mercer will represent the men in the 60-m dash. Reno ran a time of 7.16 in the Upstate Challenge while Holland ran his best time of the season at the PSU Nationals (6.86). Howard finished in third at the Upstate Challenge (6.90) and Mercer ran a time of 7.05 in the same meet.

200-m
- Robinson, Sabrina Cammock, Ashley Keyes and Kristina Bugg will race the 200-m.
- Howard, Reno, Mercer and Holland will also compete in the 200-m dash. All three ran this race at the PSU Nationals, with Holland leading the way with a time of 21.84.Â

400-m
- Robinson, Cammock and Kimberly Watterson will run in the 400-m race. Robinson came in third in the race at the Upstate Challenge (58.85).
- Howard will also compete in the 400-m. He came in 21st in the race at the NYC Gotham Cup with a time of 50.30.

500-m
- Watterson will also compete in the 500-m run.

Jumps
- Both  Mikayla Pearce and Will Watson will compete in the long jump and the triple jump. Klarissa Ricks will compete in the long jump as well while Jabari Parker will be in the high jump.
- In the long jump, Pearce came in first at the Cornell relays with a 5.66 mark and placed fifth in the triple jump (11.36).
USA Cross Country Jr. Championships
- Joel Hubbard, Kevyn Hoyos, MJ Erb, Dan Lennon and Emily Nist will run in the USA Cross Country Jr. Championships this weekend.
- During the cross country season, Lennon finished in 14th place at the Toledo Bubble Buster (19:39.2) and 41st at the BIG EAST Championships (25:43.77).
- Nist took a third place finish at the John Reif Memorial (18:46.2), while running to a 16th place finish at the Dartmouth Invite (22:16.8) and 62nd place finish at the Toledo Bubble Buster (14:14.5).
