SYRACUSE, N.Y. -Â Syracuse rowing alum Mike Gennaro recently completed training camp at the USRowing Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. The 2012 Olympic team member is preparing for the 2013 competitive season, which culminates with the World Rowing Championships.

An alternate with the U.S. Olympic sweep team at the London Games, Gennaro was one of 17 athletes invited to the men's training camp Jan. 6-27.

A 2011 SU alum, Gennaro has won five total international medals in the last four summers. He is a three-time medalist at the U23 World Championships, including one gold, and won two golds at the Pan-American Games in the pair and 8+. He sat in the stroke seat for the U.S.'s gold medal-winning men's 8+ at the 2011 U23 World's in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
The Havertown, Pa. native sat in the stroke seat for head coach Dave Reischman's varsity eight at Syracuse for three seasons, leading the Orange to a Grand Final appearance at the IRA in 2010.

Gennaro is looking to compete for Team USA at the World Rowing Championships on Aug. 25-Sept. 1 in Chungju, South Korea.
